How to read the table
House edge is the share of every wagered dollar the casino keeps on average over time. A 1.41% edge on the pass line means a $100 in bets costs about $1.41 in the long run; the same money on Any 7 costs $16.67. The odds bet is the famous exception - it pays true odds, so the house keeps nothing, which is why the smart play is a small line bet backed by the biggest odds you're comfortable with.
Why big payouts hide big edges
Notice the pattern: the flashier the payout, the worse the deal. Boxcars pays 30:1 but the true odds against rolling a 12 are 35:1, and that gap is the 13.89% edge.
